hi
this is my 1st visit im not sure if i am posting in the right place and i dont speak german so please bear with me.

i have installed the image on my 900hd ipbox on a 16gb usb stick and i am finding my way through it.
i dont have a great knowledge of e2 but can load images and ftp etc.

i was trying to install neutrino keymap for ipbox 900 from the plugins menu but i cant find where to install it.
it tells me that is is downloaded ok but i cannot find it.

also i have an external e-sata hdd connected but i am not sure how to get this working.
the hdd info only reads the usb stick

if anyone could help on these 2 problems i would be greatful

thanks
h

santa

If you install the neutrino keymap, you have only to reboot the box.
After that, you can switch the programs with up/down without using the channellist.

Your HDD must have the label RECORD, formated in ext(2,3 or4) and there a directory movie.

If you don't know how, please post the output of these in telnet:

blkid
fdisk -l

thanks for the reply santa
i can see the channels change up/down but i had thought the plugin was a function to modify the behaviour of the buttons as in other images, i.e green button assigned to stop/start emu etc, but maybe that is somewhere else or not part of this image yet?

the telnet output reads

BusyBox v1.20.2 (2012-10-13 08:45:32 CEST) built-in shell (ash)

Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

IPBOX900:~# blkid

which to me says it is reading the usb stick
i have an e-sata hdd which i wanted to use for recordings but maybe ths is not possible and as i say i have a limited knowledge.
thanks

ps sorry 1 other quick question - does the scart out work at the same time as hdim output as i want to send picture to 2nd tv.

Oh, images with the p209 kernel don't find sata hdds.
You need to install a p211 image, but this isn't in git a this time.
You can try to install an ipbox910 image, then post the output here, if this image will boot.

Emu you can only start/stop in hdmu center, softcam.

Hdmi and scary isn't really possible.
Only if you use 576p in Hdmi, but who wants that.

Vielleicht kann bpanther p211 ja noch für die 900er und 91 basteln. Läuft mit der 910 perfekt und die 9000er ja anscheinend auch...

04.11.2012, 23:10
Sorry, but we only talk about how to fix your problem.

Have you try to install an ip910 image?

hairibo
04.11.2012, 23:20
yes im sorry i have install neutrinino 910 image and it booted ok but i couldnt get it to read disecq config for the 2 sats that i have 19.2e & 28.2e.
i was then going to try HDMU 910 image but i cannot get the usb stick formatted.

byy the way i forgot to mention that i have a 500gb usb hdd - is there any way i can use this to run the image and act as pvr hdd?
thx

usb hdd isn´t a problem.
if you boot a flash image, you must format your stick with,

mkfs.ext2 -I 128 -b 4096 /dev/sda1

with fdisk /dev/sda
you have the possible to create more partitions, so you can faster and easier test images.

with p211 images, your sata drive must work.

in flash and it is stable and is good as a fallback up to experimenting with e2/neutrino images

ok, let´s try to create partitions.

download this tool: here (http://www.hdmedia-universe.com/board/showthread.php?1044-Partinionieren-von-HDD-und-USB-Sticks&p=12717&viewfull=1#post12717)

stick into your pc, start create mini

choose your stick, format

boot dgs and mount and install images to sda2, sda3 or sda4.

if you want to install later a new one, format the part with:

mkfs.ext2 -I 128 -b 4096 -L MINI2 /dev/sda2

maybe you have to change your bootargs:

fw_setenv menu_1 'setenv bootusb "run bootargsusb;usb reset;ext2load usb 0:2 a5ff0000 boot/uImage;bootm a5ff0000";setenv bootargsusb "setenv bootargs console=ttyAS1,115200 root=/dev/sda2 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=$ipaddr:$serverip:$gateway:$netmask:cuberevo:et h0:off mem=128m coprocessor_mem=4m@0x10000000,4m@0x10400000 rootdelay=6 nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:$ethaddr";setenv bootcmd "run bootusb";saveenv;front_puts SDA2-USB;boot'fw_setenv menu_2 'setenv bootusb "run bootargsusb;usb reset;ext2load usb 0:3 a5ff0000 boot/uImage;bootm a5ff0000";setenv bootargsusb "setenv bootargs console=ttyAS1,115200 root=/dev/sda3 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=$ipaddr:$serverip:$gateway:$netmask:cuberevo:et h0:off mem=128m coprocessor_mem=4m@0x10000000,4m@0x10400000 rootdelay=6 nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:$ethaddr";setenv bootcmd "run bootusb";saveenv;front_puts SDA3-USB;boot'

then you have press 1 to get image from sda2
2-->sda3
3-->sda4

later if you test with sata drive, you have to press:
4-->sda2
5-->sda3
6-->sda4

im not sure how to install image to a separate partition.
previously i was using this guide to install images to single partition. i tried and it tarred the image to mnt/usb/usb3 but it wouldnt boot.

cd /tmp
mount # you will see mounted usb dev/sda1 or sdb1
umount /dev/sda1
mkfs.ext2 /dev/sda1 -L ext2
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb #if you see mounted usb0 than mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb/usb0
#with ftp put your E2 in mnt/usb or mnt/usb/usb0
cd /mnt/usb # or cd /mnt/usb/usb0
ls -aln
tar xzvf yourE2.tar.gz

im sorry for being a real newbie but i cant get the image to boot from the partitioned stick.
i have used mkfs.ext2 -I128 -b4096 -L MINI1 /dev/sda1
and was able to install the image to /mnt/usb.
the message i get on screen is 'e2-sda1-usb' but does not boot
i also tried boot from sda2, sda3 & sda4.
when i reboot from dgs flash i can see in ftp the image is installed in /mnt/usb/usb0 so i dont know where i went wrong.

USB: scanning bus for devices... 2 USB Device(s) found
scanning bus for storage devices... 1 Storage Device(s) found

that´s the problem, i think.

try this:

fw_setenv menu_1 'setenv bootusb "run bootargsusb;usb reset;ext2load usb 0:1 a5ff0000 boot/uImage;bootm a5ff0000";setenv bootargsusb "setenv bootargs console=ttyAS1,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=$ipaddr:$serverip:$gateway:$netmask:cuberevo:et h0:off mem=128m coprocessor_mem=4m@0x10000000,4m@0x10400000 rootdelay=6 nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:$ethaddr";setenv bootcmd "run bootusb";saveenv;front_puts SDA1-USB;boot'

fw_setenv menu_2 'setenv bootusb "run bootargsusb;usb reset;ext2load usb 1:1 a5ff0000 boot/uImage;bootm a5ff0000";setenv bootargsusb "setenv bootargs console=ttyAS1,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=$ipaddr:$serverip:$gateway:$netmask:cuberevo:et h0:off mem=128m coprocessor_mem=4m@0x10000000,4m@0x10400000 rootdelay=6 nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:$ethaddr";setenv bootcmd "run bootusb";saveenv;front_puts SDA1-USB;boot'

ok,the stick is now ok, the kernel was load and started, but not the image, please try this bootarg.

fw_setenv menu_1 'setenv bootusb "run bootargsusb;usb reset;ext2load usb 0:1 a5ff0000 boot/uImage;bootm a5ff0000";setenv bootargsusb "setenv bootargs console=ttyAS1,115200 root=/dev/sdb1 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=$ipaddr:$serverip:$gateway:$netmask:cuberevo:et h0:off mem=128m coprocessor_mem=4m@0x10000000,4m@0x10400000 rootdelay=6 nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:$ethaddr";setenv bootcmd "run bootusb";saveenv;front_puts SDB1-USB;boot'

the last test was button 1?

I have changed the code above then try to boot from 2 = sda1 usb then 1= sdb1 usb then 5 = e2 sda1 usb but still the same.

i tried several times deleting and re-partitioning the usb and tried another usb but no luck

which image do you try to install?
I see only a P207 Image, try an other Image, p209 for IP900 or p211 for IP910

hairibo
10.11.2012, 00:29
I have been able to load pkt e2 p211 image I will get it set up then I assume I can install 2 other images to usb1 & usb2 to see which one I like best I would like to get my external e-data hdd working if possible along with scart had. I may be able to use my 500gb usb drive to be partitioned for images and recordings?

Thanks for the help

yes, my images are installed on my sata hdd.

hairibo
10.11.2012, 14:10
ok sorry to be a nuisance but i think my best option is to partition my 500gb usb hdd and use it to have several images on and also act as a hdd for recordings.
i am having a bit of trouble formatting it maybe you could give me these steps then i should be able to partition and load images as before on 16gb usb stick.

this f*** image!

put this stick in your pc and format.

so your box doesn´t mount it.

you can also test to unmount with:

umount /dev/sda2

im sorry friend it sounds like you are a bit upset. i would understand this as i have probably taken up too much of your time
i tried to format the stick in pc but it isnt allocated a drive letter but shows in device manager as working ok

i dont know where it is going wrong it sounds like the drive isnt being detected at boot but then adds it as second drive (sdb) when disconnecting and re-connecting after the box has booted
i could ftp to sdb2,3 & 4 but dont have the boot options to start from them.
sorry again for burdening you with this and thank you for your patience

try the bootargs from sda, log

hairibo

the problem seems to be that the disk isnt being mounted in /mnt/usb upon reboot.

when it is disconnected and re-connected it appears as

/dev/sdb1 on /mnt/usb/usb0 type ext2 (rw,sync)

/dev/sdb2 on /mnt/usb/usb1 type ext2 (rw,sync)

/dev/sdb3 on /mnt/usb/usb2 type ext2 (rw,sync)

/dev/sdb4 on /mnt/usb/usb3 type ext2 (rw,sync)

i think the partitions are fine as per this readout from disk utility tool.
here is also serial bootlog
thanks

i think i am sorted now
i booted the box without usb so it wasnt being seen as sda2.
when i then connected it it was correctly recognised as sda1,sda2,sda3 &sda4 in mnt/usb/usb0, mnt/usb/usb1,mnt/usb/usb2 & mnt/usb/usb3.
i then installed
pkt svn 1843 to sda2
bpanther neutrino 4536 to sda3
hdmu 1233 to sda4
so i am now goint to see which one is best foe epg and recording function and also which has option for scart out to 2nd tv
many thanks to santa for helping me get this far
