Hi,
Firstly, since I'm new I'd like to greet all members of the forum.
The reason I started the topic is because I'd like to ask you a question about a certain problem I have.
I own Kathrein receiver ufs 910 and TitaNit ver 1.32 in flash. I want to install an usb image like Enigma 2 on stick. I suppose that I need to format usb stick with the tool Create mini, with which I'd get one fat particion, with the name swap, and another three partitions Mini1, Mini2, Mini3.
I'd like to install usb image with Morly tool. I started the Morly tool and I've connected it with Kathi. I've seen it's interface and now, since I've never worked with this program, I'd appreciate if someone could explain me the process of installation step by step.
Seeing other options, I saw that it's quite dangerous to try to manipulate with the program that you don't know much about and could harm my box. Because of this I kindly ask for your help.

You're welcome.

You can create the partitions also with the Tool.

Boot with TitaNit. Start the Tool, open the HDD/Images Tab and change to manage Partition. Here you can choose the numbers of partitions, apply and wait, that's the first step. Reboot the Box when it's done.

Go to Manage Images. Pherhaps you have to mount the partitions. Download your Image to your PC. Right click the partition you want to install to and chose Install Image. When it is ready you can right click the partition again and set this partition as default image. Restart again and the Image will start, after the configuration you can enjoy HDMU. :)

Better you write next time in the Tool thread, it is no problem writing english there. Perhaps a Mod will move us to it. :)

OK - start with the USB/Images Tab,
change to "Manage Partitions"

There choose your device and then the number of partitions (e.g 4).
Then apply the changes.
Next make right click on the first part and say: "create swap part"

Thats it!

Choosing what image to boot:
when you turn on the box you'll see "Kathrein UFS 910" - after 1 second you can choose the image to boot with the cursor up/down of your RC.

But just post your bootargs, I will then explain it in more detaill :)

there you can save them (as .txt file) - please do so and attach the file here

second: I need a screenshot of the HDD/Images Tab

You can open the Box to answer in an advanced mode, when you klick the Erweitert (advanced) button below. There you find the button to attach (Anhänge). And if not attached, please write the pasted text in a code box (#).

bootarg

Morly and I told you how to create the partitons. There you also can select the filesystem by right click. I think that's easy and logical. Why didn't you do that?

How to choose the boot image, I told you before, ...set as defauld image, or the way during the start, as morly told.

I made a wrong move which you can see on the screenshot. Now I can't manipulate with the particions till I don't solve this problem, which I don't know how.

What's your problem? Delete the Partition and start new, perhabs you have to umount this swap part. Maybe you have to deactivate swap in the Flash Image.

kaktuscar

Did I create these partitions correctly? What would be the next step in order to install usb image on the stick like HDMU or PKT Hipernion Image? Do I need to extract image file? :)

Can you explain me how can I format my usb stick with Morly tool or by another way so that I would be left with swap particion with three folders called backup, swap extension and swapdir because they are neccesary for TitaNit in flash, and in the same time create another three partitions where I can install usb image like PKT or HDMU?

ReWard
06.10.2013, 01:26
Ok, one more time.

You need 4 Partitions, I think. So far I know, is that the filesystem of this swap partition is vfat, and that is normaly the 1. part.

Be sure that sda1 and sda2 is not mounted. Change to manage Partition. Double klick the sda1 at filesystem and change it to vfat, the same at sda2 and change it to ext2 (better use ext2 when you use a stick). Now double klick the label of sda1 and call it SWAP. The other partitions don't need to be labeled mini. Klick apply changes and wait if its done.

Change back to Manage Images. Mount the SWAP partition and klick in the top show partition content below. Now klick on the SWAP partition. In the window below you can right click and create the folders you need.

As I asked for the screenshot of the "Manage Tabs" the most important info is missing :)
Please rearrange the column widhts' that I can also see the "Information" col...
This will be important to check your bootargs

kaktuscar

Sorry, I can't find Manage Tabs? Can you tell me where that option is located?

ReWard

As I told you, take the "Erweitert" Button (German = advanced). To change the size of the sreenshots klick "Bearbeiten" (edit), double klick them and try out which is the best. By klicking "Vorschau" you get a preview of your post. (Don't know if these Buttons are shown in englisch or german in your browser)

kaktuscar
06.10.2013, 14:51
Okay, I got that. What I don't understand is where to find Manage Tools since I have to post a screenshot of that too.

ReWard
06.10.2013, 15:09
I think morly means a button. The Manage Image and Manage Partition Button, right near the 2 blue arrows.

kaktuscar
06.10.2013, 15:40
Is this what Morly wanted for me to capture? I apologise again, but can you once again tell me how to create the three folders?
I'm confused about this part:

Mount the SWAP partition and klick in the top show partition content below. Now klick on the SWAP partition. In the window below you can right click and create the folders you need.

OK - seems good - now in "Manage Images" Tab right mouse clkick on MINI3 or 4 And "Install Image...",
choose the downloaded zip archive (usb 910 image)
Does it work?

- - - Aktualisiert - - -

if you cannot run the USB image please post the bootargs (can be saved in the bootargs tab)

ReWard

The filesystem of the SWAP Partition (sda1) is normaly used vfat. And for sda2-4 you can (should) use ext2 for USB sticks as filesystem, and not for the label.

The name of the label dosn't matter, you could name it "USB2" or "mini2", or the name of the Image "HDMU 11448". The Image Version is for me the best name, so you better see which Image are on the Partitions.

It wont boot. The usb image has been installed.

It wont boot. The usb image has been installed.

What is the state of things?

If you want to enjoy our Image, discribe how you installed it, we only can help you if you tell us something.

You cannot star usb images with your bootargs, please load the default ones and apply them. Before doing so writedown the net settings like ipaddr and ethernet adr. and correct the settings from the default bootargs.

Load default bootargs and change mac address and all ips to your current settings. Write these changes. Then set default bootimage and restart box

kaktuscar
06.10.2013, 22:28
i have applyed default bootargs and it would not change mac, but then i have set default image and now won't boot.

i will try to restore bootargs thru nullmodem cable

morly

kaktuscar
06.10.2013, 22:43
after i applyed this bootargs and set default image box would not boot angain5409

morly

OK - this error is absolutely ok - when editing bootargs via LAN the ethaddr cannot be changed - don't worry.
You are almost there ;)

Next to do:
find the entries: bootargs_1, bootargs_2 and bootargs_3
in this long lines you find

root=/dev/sdb2
root=/dev/sdb3
root=/dev/sdb4
Change it to:

root=/dev/sda2
root=/dev/sda3
root=/dev/sda4

Apply changes, set your default image, reboot box - done!

morly
08.10.2013, 10:25
This is not a problem of the admin tool nor the HDMU image.
Please ask the TitanNit guys
