Hi,

Hello all I am new on this board, so this is my first post.
I think this may be a bug.
On my IPBox 900 I experience tuner configuration error after playing music from the media centre off of the HD. Does anyone else have this Issue. Soft reboot does not make it work, only power off and on.

Cheers

Hi does anyone else suffer this, still happens up yo the January releases?

Hi and welcome (even if your first post is a little older...)
What does the log say if this error occurs?
Have you tried a new image? (if not please do so)

ibero96

Seems to be an issue with twin tuner Alien boxes as well - as far as I recall the sequence is;

- use media centre (or EMC, it doesn't make any difference) to play a recording (music, video - it doesn't matter)
- box starts scheduled recording
- you end playback and exit media player / EMC
- Box reports tuner error and cold start required to regain functionality.

Both tuners set to 28.2 single

Only seems to happen with HDMU running on my Alien 2 - on the single tuner Alien 8900 everything works as expected. The 8900 is currently on HDMU 11842 but the Alien 2 has been moved to PKT Hyperion V3 which doesn't exhibit this problem so I can't (at the moment) provide any more detailed information.

@morly there is no log as it is not a crash as such...
@ ibero96...This is pretty much It, as described, although I have not tried the recording side of things only music off of the hard drive.
All was OK About Nov last year, but recent changes have resulted in this problem, a tad annoying as the box is used as a media centre.
Also recent changes have removed the ability to add TSMedia as well.
All in many thanks to the coders, the image is very good, certainly cured the HD judder problem for me

Many thanks for your replies

Cheers

Shpelling mistakes are not mine the site seems to change thinks sometimes!

I did not speak about a crash log - I mean either a serial log or a lan log...
(for reading the console messages of the image)

Hi morly, Many thanks for your reply. Is there a tutorial for a serial or lan logging.. I would be willing to share information if it helps develop things further.

Can you read a German tutorial?

Sounds a bit like the frontend issue that has been there since longer time (below trace from test last May) but only happens occassionally:

opening frontend 1
failed! (/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1) Device or resource busy
(1)tune
no frontend device opened... do not try to tune !!!

Or does it happen always for you? Can also appear if 2 recordings are ongoing and if one or both record(s) end the tuner might fail but also not always. Only permanent way to reproduce this error message is to setup a record timer, open media center just before record starts - it fails to open the frontend until you exit the media center.

Yes Mikam, this was also my thought, this is why I was asking for a log ;)

Hi guys. Many thanks for the input here. Just to clarify I am not recording, just playing music (mp3) off the hard drive via media centre. I would say that this happens very often, on the odd occasion it will work fine. It seems the longer the music has been played the more likely it will return "tune fail" upon exiting.
Typical of the English my grasp of other languages is very poor. However on-line translators are usually useful, providing the article is not written technical?

Thanks

Ray

In order to do a trace and if you do neither have morly's tool nor serial connection you could log into via telnet, then use

killall rcS; killall enigma2 (ensure that no-one is using the box at this stage or no recordings are ongoing, otherwise you risk a divorce :D )

After that start the software again with

enigma2

After that you get all output to the telnet window (better do a capture of the output as it is quite a lot coming there) and you could repeat your tests and provide the output here. Please remember to reboot the box after tests are done to get it into normal shape.

And about the visible issue: I did not mean that it only happens with recordings but also it could happen there. It can also happen when using standard player to play recorded movies and as you mentioned when either playing music or videos via media center.

morly

just a hint:
for a telnet log (so if network of the box is started and you can connect via telnet) you can also execute the following command:

setconsole

The result is the same as using the one above - but: you don't have to kill and restart rcS and enigma2 ;)

Mikam_0815

Only one command? boring :D

Can I disable the output as well with a command or will it have no impact to the performance if leaving it on?

morly
17.01.2014, 14:44
I currently don't have a box available - but what does

setconsole --help
say?

I have in mind that there is a way - but cannot remember at the moment ;)

Mikam_0815
17.01.2014, 14:50
setconsole -r does the magic:

Usage: setconsole [-r] [DEVICE]

Redirect system console output to DEVICE (default: /dev/tty)

-r Reset output to /dev/console

morly

I knew it is that easy :)
By the way - this nice logging feature is part of the new admin tool

olie
17.01.2014, 15:04
New admin tool is like Columbo's wife. No one had ever seen her.:D

morly
17.01.2014, 15:12
not correct - I see it almost every day ;)
and also others could already test some parts

Mikam_0815
17.01.2014, 15:35
Just for curiosity: is the setconsole something new in the actual releases because in the past we always used to do the restart of enigma2 to get the messages shown in terminal window?

morly
17.01.2014, 16:01
I am already using it for a longer time - I think it is part of busy box for quiet a while now (maybe always) - just unknown ;)

Hi guys, here is a copy of the output, although there appears to be some missing from the beginning. Hopefully this will be of use. If not let me know.

Cheers

Hi ReWard, I this something you are requesting me to do? If so where is this located? and what do you need after this?
Many thanks for all your input so far!

This is a Code

You will find it in the Advance Option in your answer, it is the button #.

Do an edit of your Post and set your listing in this code, you can mark the whole list and press the (#) code button. So it is easier to read.

Hi ReWard I think I got this correct, as the links for this are in German, so a bit of guess work lol.

Ah ok, I thought this would shown in the language of the browser.

But now it looks better.

Google does a good job of the main thread text, but misses some of the buttons used on forums. If it this problem gets to a stage of fixes, and needs beta testing I will be able to test on my box, if needed.
As a note sometimes MP3 files make the box crash completely on the odd occasion.

Cheers

This problem still exists with 11940/Spark 7162 - as before;

use media centre (or EMC, it doesn't make any difference) to play a recording (music, video - it doesn't matter)
- box starts scheduled recording
- you end playback and exit media player / EMC
- Box reports tuner error and cold start required to regain functionality.

Both tuners set to 28.2 single
