Hi everybody,
I've an ipbox9000 and i would like to try a hdmu image.
Actually I've installed a AAF E2 on flash.
Is there any step by step tutorial or can someone guide me how to get hdmu on my box?
Thanks.

Do you have a HDD in your Box?
If yes, empty or Full?

Please Login with Telnet:

fdisk -l

blaska
11.02.2014, 21:56
No, no. No hard disk installed. But maybe i can find one if is necessary.

santa
11.02.2014, 21:58
our image must be installed on a usb stick or internal sata hdd.
internal hdd is faster then a stick.

blaska
11.02.2014, 22:01
Then i will install a hdd.
What's the first step after hdd is installed?

santa
11.02.2014, 22:06
you have to create some partitions.

1 RECORD in ext3
2 SWAP
3 MINI1 in ext2
4 MINI2 in ext2

swap and minis should be 500MB, the other GBs for RECORD

do you know how to create parts?

blaska
11.02.2014, 22:12
Half tera for every partition? Is not to much? A black hole image for vu+ is less than 200mb. Can't believe it!
So recommended pen or hdd is 2Tb?

santa
11.02.2014, 22:18
normal you need only 60-80MB for our image,
also 500MB per part, not 500GB

blaska
11.02.2014, 22:26
Aaah ok! Sorry for missunderstanding.
I have no idea what kind of hard drive may I install, I mean, any restrictions? What's the maximum size my box can handle? Minimum 2gb, right?

santa
11.02.2014, 22:33
i don´t think that you have a sata hdd with 2gb, ide is not supported.

I run the image off a pen drive without too many issues!

If you have multi boot all is good...

This is how I created my pen drive boot.

I assume you have e2 in flash
You will need to be able to FTP your box, and use putty...

I use putty for the next bit.
User: root
Password: HDMU

To create a partition on the pen drive
mkfs,ext2 /dev/sdb1 -L ext2

Then copy your downloaded file into this directory via FTP transfer (tar.gz on this site)

Back to putty...to unpack the file
mount dev sdb1 /mnt/usb

Then use putty to unpack the file...

cd /mnt/usb

tar -vzxf *****.tar.gz (then the full name of the image)

then...
sync

remove the image using FTP if required.

Start your box using the correct key number on the remote. Set-up the image as per the instructions

Cheers

sata is min 20secs faster than usb, if he had a hdd, he should use it

blaska
12.02.2014, 07:36
Thanks for your help.
Which putty commands I need to do it on the hard drive?

santa

maybe you can understand this faq-->klick (http://www.hdmedia-universe.com/board/showthread.php?1044-Partinionieren-von-HDD-und-USB-Sticks&p=12845&viewfull=1#post12845)
if not, aks again.
try to install with morlys stb admin tool-->klick (http://www.hdmedia-universe.com/board/showthread.php?4338-SH4-STB-Admin-Tool-Morly-1-4)

blaska

I can't understand German.
I've installed a 320gb sata.
From box menu I've choosed initialization and ext2 format, other options are ext3, fat32 and jfs. Ext2 is good or better chose another?

blaska
12.02.2014, 17:32

swap and minis should be 500MB, the other GBs for RECORD

I don't know how to create partition. I'm familiar with putty and winscp.
Can you pass me commands to make parts?

blaska

After formating from the box menu, I can not see any more the option hard disk on the menu.
from putty I can see this:
is my hdd recogniced?

root@S400:~# fdisk -l

strange, i only see two sticks, i think:

Disk /dev/sda: 524 MB,
Disk /dev/sdb: 4041 MB,

try a reboot

blaska
12.02.2014, 19:11
Yes, extrange... I saw the same. I did a soft reset, I'll try a hard reset.
No usb attached.
Maybe i can format from putty?

santa
12.02.2014, 20:12
yes of course, but we must have to see the hdd with fdisk before

blaska
12.02.2014, 20:14
How to do that?

santa
12.02.2014, 20:22
fdisk -l

we have to see 320gb, then we can create partitions with fdisk, after that format that parts with mkfs.

blaska
13.02.2014, 14:05
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/13/pe3unehe.jpg
After a hard reset the menu shows back the hard disk menu, showing correct size of the hdd. If i try to inicializate always say error mounting. Fdisk -l doesn't show real size.
I Will try another hard disk or will try with a pen drive.

santa
13.02.2014, 14:27
Put the HDD in a pc and format with any Tool.
After that try again in Box.

Remove your hdd, put a usb stick on your Box and boot.

then show me fdisk -l

Oh my god! I've made a little big disaster! All the time I was pointing to a wrong IP where is one of my servers, its a mini pc and the boot was on usb stick, so now after repartition of usb stick the server doesn't boot anymore. Thats why fdisk wasn't showing correct size.
Now i have to fix pc boot. I'll continue with ipbox later.
Very sorry for time wasting!

cd /autofs/sda3
if this is possible, open ftp and copy image to /autofs/sda3
after that, telnet again:

tar xvzf *.tar.gz

blaska

santa
17.02.2014, 21:08
shutdown

key power, then hold key number 3 until ide-sda3 is to read in your vfd.

now hdmu should boot.

configure your image, then:

mkfs.ext4 -L RECORD /dev/sda1

reboot, have fun

Tomorrow I'll post results.

blaska

Are you sure is number 3 on the remote control?
I've found this:
1) boot from cdkroot
2) boot from USB with hdd
3) original images
4) boot from release
5) boot from USB without hdd
6) boot from SATA hdd
7) boot from flash

santa
18.02.2014, 07:40
Yes, because fw_setenv sets New bootsrgs, and we prepare key 3 and 4

Sda2-usb and nothing on tv screen.

blaska
18.02.2014, 15:28
If i hold on number 4 on tv control, vfd shows sda3-IDE but doesn't boot and black screen on tv.

santa
18.02.2014, 16:34
You have to use fw_setenv like in post 39 before you can Boot from that.

blaska
