Online Update

Did I missed something? Can't do online update no more. I had git_5755 and tried(yesterday) to do update via putty...No update available? I see that new image git_5759 in download area.... I did a new flash and evrything OK.Now, I see new git_5761,opened putty-opkg update-opkg upgrade and nothing??

Only MIPS-boxes are available do flash it online.
Boxes with SH4 processor are not ready do update online.

Because we use an other build environment, so we can't use online update for all parts in sh4 Images.

... which isn't exactly an explanation why it wouldn't be possible ...

I was hoping for the possility of some post-processing breaking up the complete image as it now comes out of the build process into atomic ipks like in oe.

Is this supposed to be a question (question mark) or a statement (sentence)?

To my knowledge, there is no image for sh4 which can truely be updated online.
The reason is that when building using max-tdt you rebuild just everything and get one huge complete image.

Images for mips are usually built using a bitbake based system which compiles each single atomic part of the image seperately. Python is a seperate package there, OpenSSL is a seperate package, libpng is a seperate package and so on ...
Parts that weren't modified do not get rebuilt at all. If only some wifi driver got recompiled, your online update will contain nothing but the changed driver ... if Python gets rebuild, it will contain Python and so on ...

Sounds great, is great and far superior, but it would also by an ass full of work to convert an existing build environment into a bitbake based one.

I use Amiko Alien 2+ with Enigma2 PKT V4 ...and is possible Online Update....

we don´t want to support online update for sh4, because there will be to much issues after update.
we want to have a stable and good image, online update has no priority.

you can use morlys stb admin tool for installing new images.

You're wrong it is NOT possible to update online PKT images. You can only patch some components. :P
